I would like to acknowledge and pay my respects to the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which I live and make art, and their Elders past, present, and emerging.

My name is Heather (she / her). I am a self-taught visual artist living and working on unceded Cammeraygal land in Sydney. My focus is on portraiture and the human figure, but I have recently expanded my practice to include still life, landscape, and more abstract elements. My work is tender, intimate, and intuitive, often influenced by my experiences of motherhood and living with anxiety. I love the emotional quality of colour and see myself as a painter of feelings. I usually work with water mixable oils on canvas or panel, but also enjoy playing around with gouache and oil pastels on paper. I have a room at home as a studio - although my work spills out into the rest of the house, especially when Iā€™m working on a larger surface.

I live with my husband Liam and our two daughters.
